A Christians has a permanent eternal residence in heaven. We are citizens of heaven. Take for example, someone migrated to Australia and wished to become a permanent resident (PR). But when he becomes a citizen, he is much happier, he can plan for his future and family. He has the right to vote. He would have lots of rights and privileges--and responsibilities. Philippians 3: 20 says, “For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ,”
Clearly it says that “our citizenship is in heaven” Heaven is our permanent-eternal residence. In this life our parents had to do some paperwork to declare our place of birth and residence. Do you have a birth certificate given by God? Yes! The Bible says, “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name” (John1:12).
Our real birth place in the spirit is in heaven. The Bible calls it, being “born again” meaning born from above. Someone has truthfully said: “When you are born twice, you die once, but if you are only born once, you die twice. Second death will be the experience of those who reject God’s offer of salvation through Christ. But for the believer we simply go home to our eternal home when we die physically in this world.
Our soul and spirit go to God, while our body is waiting for that great resurrection when the rapture comes. The rapture can come anytime without any warning and signs. This world is not our final home we are just passing through. Someone has said, “Life is short, death is sure, sin the curse, but Christ the cure.” Don’t waste your time. And the rapture may come anytime, you might be left behind and suffer the consequences of the tribulation. The rapture may not come yet in our lifetime, but we need to be prepared because we do not know when the Lord takes us home to heaven.
Our permanent residence in heaven gives us peace and joy serving our God here below- because we have that “Blessed Assurance.” Why don’t you make your reservation now? Tomorrow may never come or may be too late. Remember God loves you and His Son Jesus died for your sins. In other words, you can be forgiven. No single sin is so bad that God cannot forgive. Please try to experience the power of what it means to be forgiven. It's all by grace, take it!.
