God is Our Refuge and Strength

Man’s responses to life often changes. Because of this, the notion of progressive revelation is very clear in the OT, but God never changes.

Man’s ability and capacity to learn and understand the unchangeable God has been a problem because of sin and Satan has blinded our understanding. But in the covenant of redemption, from eternity past, God planned to reveal Himself when the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, which we call the Incarnation of the Son of God. Thank God, He became a Man in the person of His Son Jesus and identified with us. But He has never changed. He is forever Immanuel. He understands us as human beings, and because of that, we can take courage as we face the future.

As we face uncertain and uncharted roads in 2023, we can be certain that we have a God who is consistent in every regard. We can stand in His promises.

Our God is the Solid Rock in whom we can trust and upon whom we can place our feet for safety and security when the storms of life beat down on us.

The Psalmist declared: Psalm 46:1 “God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble”

Human beings often change. Families change. Business change. Nations change. Constant changes always present a threat, and it creates fear in our hearts. However in the midst of whatever may threaten us, we can take courage and be strong in the faith that our God who has revealed Himself in Jesus Christ will remain the same. That gives us encouragement and comfort as we approach 2023.

Francis De Sales said: “Be not miserable about what may happen tomorrow. The same everlasting Father, who cares for you today, will care for you tomorrow and every day. Either He will shield you from suffering or He will give you unfailing strength to bear it.” All by grace and by grace alone.
