The living Water

Water, this precious commodity. Without water we die. All around the world you would see water in bottles for sale-on the side walk, buses, airports, supermarkets etc. Australia is sometimes called by geographers as a ‘dry continent.’ It is a vast country-continent, and the middle part is dry desert, but rich in minerals. We have a few huge rivers and most of the populace live in the coastal regions where our big cities are situated.

So water is precious here for our sustenance, particularly in our agriculture. Don’t take water for granted. Every time I look at our taps/faucets, I breathe a ‘sigh of relief’ and thank God for water. During our accident three weeks ago, for the first two hours all I longed for was water, (my wife was sitting next to me lovingly holding my hand as she was not hurt badly), then after those two agonizing hours, she was allowed to give me a ‘sponge’ of water just to dry my lips. That was heavenly! Then after a few minutes another ‘sponge’ to dry my tongue and throat-that was double heavens. This may sound funny, but that is the truth. A very thirsty dying person would even dare to exchange his Rolex watch for water.

This reminds me of the story of the rich man and Lazarus in Luke chapter 16: 19-31. The rich man died, but is tormented in hell forever. Hell is so hot that “he cried and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am tormented in this flame.’” (Please read the whole story and trust Christ as your Saviour because I don’t want you to go to hell. It is very hot and you will be thirsty for the rest of eternity).

Hell is real! Just as heaven is real! God is real! That is why Christ came seeking for you, He loves you.)

Please consider Christ’s invitation: 37 On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. 38 He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” (John 7:37-38)

To the Samaritan woman: “Jesus answered and said to her, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, 14 but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.” (John 4:13-14, you may the whole story in chapter 4).

Material water could satisfy and quench our body’s thirst, but could never satisfy the inner thirst of our souls. Only God can do that, for He is the One who put eternity in our hearts. Are you really satisfied with your life-with all your riches, fame and wealth? Just bow your head and say, ‘Lord, I repent of my sins, help my unbelief, I want to trust You as my Saviour and Lord, I am inviting You to come into my heart and life, and make me a new person you want me to be. Amen.’

This simple prayer is honoured by God. Thank Him for the gift of life, because it is all by grace. While you are living and walking upon this earth, remember-‘you are not alone’. There are other believers who love Jesus too and study His Word, the Bible.
