Be Thankful, Be Strong and Take Courage.

Let us be thankful and take courage because God will never leave us. Heb.13:5 “…He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” For instance, God promised His faithfulness to Joshua. He was a man filled with the Spirit, and a man of wisdom. He was commissioned to replace Moses. Joshua was approaching 90 years of age when he became Israel’s leader. He later died at the age of 110.

Please read Joshua 1:5-9. Verses 5 and 6 say, “ No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life; as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you nor forsake you. 6 Be strong and of good courage…”

Joshua’s last challenge, “choose for yourselves this day…”

Did Joshua faithfully obey God? After the conquest of Jericho and other different Canaanite tribal groups and divided the lands, Joshua challenged the Israelites to serve God.

Joshua 24:14-15 “…choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.”

Joshua took the Word of God and obeyed it, and claimed its promises. Let us read

Verse, 8 again. “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. 9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”

In the NT language it means- “Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added unto you.” God would never leave nor forsake those who will trust in Him.

As we approach the future, let me assure you by the authority of God’s Word, God will be your constant companion and friend. ”He will never leave you nor forsake you.” All He asks from you is your faithfulness to him so that you can be an effective witness for Him. All by grace and by grace alone.
